John completed two years of formal welding education, where he quickly distinguished himself as the program's top student earning Student of the Year both years, a distinction never before given to a first-year student. That year he was appointed Shop Foreman, also an honor never before awarded to a first-year student. He continued serving in that leadership role throughout his second year. His talent and work ethic earned him every major distinction available within the program. John became the first first-year student to win numerous welding competitions and awards, continuing that success in his second year, taking home every contest, honor, and recognition offered by the school. His instructors recognized not only his technical ability but also his leadership, and he was selected to return as a welding instructor for the Summer Program, where he supervised the welding shop and served as a teaching assistant, mentoring the next generation of welders.

That opportunity led directly to an internship with one of Long Island's best-known steel fabrication companies. Upon graduation, he was hired full-time. He worked on custom projects throughout the region, including a 20-foot architectural archway, vehicle elevators, custom staircases, and structural steel installations in some of the Hamptons' most exceptional homes. While John loved the challenge of large-scale fabrication, his passion has always been creating pieces that carry personal meaning.

Today, Arc & Ember brings together both sides of that experience. From welding and custom metal fabrication to permanent jewelry, every project receives the same level of precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. In one day, John may be repairing a cherished family heirloom, transforming Grandpa's retired golf clubs into a custom side table, fabricating a unique metal piece for a home, or welding a permanent bracelet that marks a milestone for someone special. John's appreciation for artistry also comes from his family's roots. His family has owned Tabu Boutique in Port Jefferson, a landmark since 1987, where he discovered a love for creating meaningful jewelry and working directly with clients. Through permanent jewelry, he built a loyal following by helping people celebrate life's milestones with custom-fit bracelets, anklets, necklaces, and hand chains that become part of their everyday story.
